Giant Kiss! Etude House Lip Gel Patch

Huge jelly lips! Who could resist squishy lips? Not I.

I can only assume that its placement in the store (lowest display case, in the far left corner, almost tucked behind the protruding cashier) was due to the fact that it was selling out so quickly that the proprietor of the store, overcome with some sort of protective selfishness, felt the need to hide them so that she could reason that since no one was buying them, she could just keep them all for herself.

Unfortunately for her, these tricks do not work on me, because I spied those glorious giant lips a mile away and, dragging my protesting friend ("But why are the lips so ... big?!" and "Do you really think you need a lip mask?" and other silly questions), snatched them up and bought them. In my honest opinion, they are a steal at HKD29 per mask, what with all the fun I'm going to get out of using them.

This hydro cherry lip gel patch is formulated with cherry extract and hydrates, repairs and soothes for soft, supple and smooth lips.

I can't help but wonder why the gel patch is so large. I assume that it's to ensure that it would be suitable for lips of all sizes (and shapes?) would be covered as well as to look adorable. Etude House has the most brilliant marketing. I wouldn't have bought this gel patch if it was in a practical, portable little glass jar, no matter how cute the jar was, because...well who needs a lip mask? But one look at this pink jello-like product, and I was sold. Genius.

Soft supple gel. The product was not as slippery or liquid as I thought it would be-the gel is only slightly damp. The mask smells like a mix between candy cherries and flowery soap, a very confusing concoction of scents.

I waited about 10-15 minutes, with an increasingly cool and slightly tingly sensation on my lips. When I removed the jelly lips, my lips felt slick, like I just dabbed some water onto them. They quickly turned sticky and tacky when the liquid dried, but my lips didn't feel particularly hydrated or repaired, as the mask claims it would. Disappointed.
Goodness me, this is a huge pair of lips.

With all the cherries plastered on the packaging, one would reasonably assume that this would smell and/or taste like cherries as well. NO. DON'T LICK THIS. It would be bitter and you (like me) would regret it.

Overall: 2 / 5
Fun product to laugh over with your friends-I've sent this to many a guy friend with the question "Guess what this is!"
But this product didn't do much (if any) for my lips and if I had very chapped, dry lips, I would rather slather them in a thick lip balm instead.
